When my boss announced to us 2 years ago that we will be getting a blackberry, there were a couple reactions that me and my other 03 colleagues have.. 01 – 02 were very excited and another wasn’t too pleased for it.. as for me? I went huh? what the heck is it? something to eat as in Strawberry, blueberry.. why blackberry.. a berry turn black means it turn rotten ..
And my colleague patiently explained to me.. Blackberry is a new era phone where it act as a phone and able to send/receive company emails… and i went Ohh.. most waited anxiously for the much-talkabout gadget… and the faithful day arrives..
My boss came in one day and says there are 2 models of blackberry the older Model 7100g – a silver slim phone and a newer model 7250 – a black fat phone.. those that wants the new model have to get it fast as we only have 05 units and only left 01! So wanting to be the up-to-date gal.. I rushed down to the accounts to get it.. and there it is.. up for grabs.. and I GOT IT!
However, there goes the fun.. you are now willingly “unknowingly” being on 24 hours standby.. regardless if its your day off or on your holiday.. you have to check your emails and have to reply to your email as soon as possible.. So being a faithful and diligent staff, I brought it along when I went for my 3-week overseas vacation last year.. checking emails and replying as I go.. no phone call, mind you .. I was smack with a telephone bill of about 100 bucks when I came back.. Hei.. why do I have to pay when I am working.. well.. life does not work that way.. life never is fair.. so unwillingly I paid my dues..
Learning from it, now when I go overseas even when I go back to Malaysia I will leave my blackberry in my Singapore home.. Not willing to pay more.. Heck with it ..can’t find me? Too bad boss.. sorry ..not at home!
So for those out there.. still thinking of getting one of this blackberry .. please do reconsider.. once you have it.. there goes your freedom! Do think twice.. trice… its not as “cool” as it sounds… Go for strawberry better.. give you more vitamins much healthier.. blackberry only give you headache!
