Katong Laksa.. August 21, 2007

As many people says as long there are chinese community, there will always have something to eat. In Singapore there are a lot of cuisine to choose from: Malay, Indian, Nyonya, Chinese, Western and many more. Most people loves to eat.. Well, we live only once, therefore must enjoy our life to our fullest. eat what we want, do what we wish to.. don’t you agree?

Today I treated myself to the most tastiest laksa in Singapore! After my morning appointments at East Coast Road, I found myself in a familiar area.. hmm… Just opposite the road is the famous katong laksa stall! Really cannot believe it.. it is just there.. mouth starts to water… and guess what it is near to lunch time… so off I went..

Took the elevator up and went across the overhead bridge. All the focus at laksa stall as though it will vanish… Alas! I reached and ordered.. yum yum…

Sat down with anticipation, nearly drooling and…voila.. the laksa is here! The first mouthful was the best.. the hot, spicy and “lemak” taste of the soup explode in your mouth is the best experience.. After finishing my bowl of laksa, even though would like to order for another, but manage to hold myself back.. This is an indulgence, therefore should not over do it in one occation.. Once you do, you lose the uniqueness of the cuisine.. and this way, I will still be looking forward for more! So.. next week katong laksa anyone?

Jalan Kayu.. August 12, 2007

Whenever we say Jalan Kayu, the first thing that came to our mind is Roti Plata, Indian food, supper/breakfast.. Today we break the trend.. while deciding on where to have our breakfast this morning, my cousin proposed Jalan Kayu… so as usual me and my aunt voiced out.. “Har.. Roti Plata?”.. but that was not the case..

Sensing something new and different, we decided to give it a try.. when we went there.. we got a surprise.. Instead of an indian stall that we are expecting, we went into a chinese restaurant.. Guess what we have.. Wanton Noodle! They have all types: normal wanton noodle, shredded chicken noodle, chicken leg noodle and many more.. We had the normal wanton noodle, mee pok noodle and a bowl of dumpling soup.

It is slightly different from the other wanton noodle that you find in Singapore. They put in the black sauce and chilli in the noodle and the soup is not so salty. So it is more healthy!

Of course, nothing can beat my hometown wanton noodle! At my hometown, there is a popular wanton noodle stall that was open by my friend’s relatives. Really miss the wanton noodles there..

Lunch… August 3, 2007

Filed under: Food and Beverages — funkiegal @ 3:13 pm

Ok let’s liven up the atmosphere a bit after the gloomy post that I did yesterday.. hmm..

Today I had lunch with my colleague at Vivo, went to Kim Gary Restaurant which was a popular restaurant in KL…They have a mixture of asian and western cruisine and for some certain reason, during lunch and dinner time there is always a queue outside the restaurant.

Since we skip our breakfast, our stomach were not too happy with us and start growling for food. We finally made our choices from their wide variety of food. My colleague decided on Kimchi (Hot & Spicy) noodle soup and I decided to go for supreme beef curry baked rice.. and the sweeten condensed milk with butter thick toast as our desert… yum yum!.. As for drinks, my colleague had Almond tea and I went for the HK style milk tea..

After some waiting time.. the food is finally here… it sure looks good.. yummy..

The verdict..

My rice wasn’t really up to my expectation .. Swenson curry chicken baked rice is much nicer.. Might give them another chance.. as they have 3 type of curry to choose from: Supreme, Pineapple and Coconut milk curry. What I had today is the Supreme.. so personally I don’t recommend it.

Their famous thick toast is nice.. but by the time we had the toast we are quite full from our main course.. but even so.. it still nice.. Highly recommended. =)

Sadly they only have one outlet in Singapore, which is in Vivo City, 1st floor. Hope they will open a few more outlet in town as well…. Franchise anyone?
