It was a great weekend.. Instead of the normal weekend when I just rest and relax at home. Last weekend is full of activities, maybe also because last Saturday I have to work half day, which I also had a busy morning, thanks to McDonald’s. As I was one of their members and has accumulated a lot of points over the last couple of years, now that they are terminating the program and we were given a dateline to redeem our points, therefore I though I was able to use my points to buy my colleagues breakfast. But to my dissappointment, when I went to the outlet at HarbourFront to redeem the points, their machine was spoilt and the manager told me that I have to go to other outlet to redeem. Hei.. that’s the last day to redeem and your machine so conveniently unable to use? What a rubbish.. Without losing hope, I took a train to Chinatown which is the next nearest McDonald and to my disgust, they did not have the machine. I have to go all the way to Dhoby Ghout to do so.. Even so, their machine was also spoilt. But I think their staff saw that I am about to blow my head off, she was so kind as to let me have my orders. And because of the time, I have to grab a cab to work that day. McDonald has a very bad system for this and if you allow people to redeem the points till that day, then don’t take away the machine till the next day, which on that day, many machines has been removed! How insincere can McDonald be and so full of crap!
On Saturday morning during office hours, we have a “gotong royong” – a session where many people work together to build a path behind our spa where it is an undevelop land with grass and trees. My spa colleagues normally uses that way as a short cut to our admin block. Guys will carry the concrete while ladies will fill up the holes of the concrete with small pebbles and earth. Eventhough it takes only 1 hour, but by the time we finish the entire project, we were all sweating with the satisfaction that the job is done!
After work and a quick dash home for a shower, I met up with SP for movies. The first movie that we watch was Sex and The City. It is from a popular TV sitcom and they made it into a movie. It is about 04 ladies coming to LA in search of Labels and Love and how they juggle jobs, motherhood, relationship, friendship, marriage which most women do. It is more or less a ladies movies since we understand them more!
After the first movie, we had a quick dinner at a Taiwan cafe nearby and followed with our 2nd movie: Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The show is about Indiana Jones being thrust back into his old adventuring. He races against agents of the Soviet Union for the crystal skull. His journey will take him across New Mexico, Connecticut, Mexico City and the jungles of Peru, as well as the warehouse from the end of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, where numerous treasures including the Ark of the Covenant are kept safe by the US government. As it was their signature closure, there will surely be one greedy guy trying to get as much gold and riches and with Indiana Jones they made a narrow escape. But for this time round, the bad guy dies together with gold due to the collapse of the building. It was a very action pack movie and is quite exciting.
The next day, I had shown some units to my aunt and followed with a 2-hour badminton session with my RE colleagues. After working out, sweaty and had a blister on my palm we decided to go for a movie, one that I wanted to watch as well: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. It is the continuos from Narnia the first movie. The second movie features after a year from their first adventure in Narnia, the Pevensie siblings (Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy) are pulled back in by Susan’s magic horn. They find that hundreds of years have passed and Narnia is now ruled by the bloodthirsty General Miraz, uncle to the true heir, Prince Caspian, who is now in exile. The children must find Caspian and help him get rid of Miraz. But there are some funny scenes as well, especially the mouse.. so cute..
It was really fun to be able to watch all the movies that I wanted to all in one weekend!
